Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) provides a Citizens Alert Notification System named Everbridge for people who register on their website for the free service (https://www.jeffcoema.org/). Participants receive alerts about emergencies and other important community news. This system enables Jefferson County EMA to provide critical information quickly for a variety of situations such as severe weather, unexpected road closures, missing persons, and evacuations of buildings and / or neighborhoods.
Registrants receive time sensitive messages based on their chosen preferences during sign-up, such as by a phone call (home, mobile or business phones), email notification, text message, or through a TTY device. During registration each person can choose what location they want to know about (up to five notification locations within Jefferson County), what they want to be notified about (from the options provided), and how they want to be notified.
This system is not an app, there are no ads, and there is no cost for those who use it. Weather notifications come directly from the National Weather Service. Sign up today to receive alerts when they are issued.
To register for this free service go to the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency website at https://www.jeffcoema.org/ and click on the option located near the top of their homepage that currently states “Click here to sign up for Everbridge Emergency Alerts.”
